Well, it was called an &#8220;ice cream bar&#8221;. <\/p>\n<p>Then I looked at the ingredients.<\/p>\n<li>nonfat milk and milkfat<\/li>\n<li>water<\/li>\n<li>sugar<\/li>\n<li>corn syrup<\/li>\n<li>whey<\/li>\n<li>citric acid<\/li>\n<li>stabiliser (mono &#038; diglycerides, guar gum, polysorbate 80, xanthan gum and and carob bean gum<\/li>\n<li>artificial flavour<\/li>\n<li>artificial colour (red #40, yellow #5, blue #1)<\/li>\n<p>I read these ingredients with increasing horror. WHAT is this stuff? It sure as heck doesn&#8217;t sound like ice cream! I immediately searched for an easy ice cream recipe. Compare the above with this ice cream recipe:<\/p>\n<li>1.75 cups heavy cream<\/li>\n<li>1.25 cup whole milk<\/li>\n<li>0.75 cup sugar<\/li>\n<li>1\/8th teaspoon salt<\/li>\n<li>1 tablespoon vanilla extract or 1 vanilla bean split in half <\/li>\n<p>Which would <strong>you<\/strong> rather feed your child? I know which one I prefer.
